Ms. Kasandra Pillay is a Senior Engineer at the South African National Research Network Competency Area (SANReN CA) at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). She has been involved mainly with the web conferencing value-added service offering at the South African National Research and Education Network (SA NREN), but has also had exposure to other value-added services such as Federated Identity Management and DNS secondary. In addition to working on upcoming services for the SA NREN, which consists of The Tertiary Education and Research Network of South Africa (TENET) and SANReN CA, she has experience in documenting server room guidelines and supports other SANReN initiatives as needed.
She was appointed to the SANReN engineering team in March 2014 after working in a Control and Instrumentation engineering environment for 3 years. Kasandra has a BSc Electronics Engineering degree from the University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN). She has an Honours Degree in Technology Management from the University of Pretoria (UP) and is currently pursuing her Master in Technology Management. Her dissertation focuses on aspects of e-Readiness (electronic Readiness) in South African Higher Education.
