Dorte Olesen is Member of the GÉANT Board.
Dorte Olesen holds a PhD in mathematics and started out as a research mathematician and university teacher which led to her becoming Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Copenhagen in the late 1980es. She also was the first woman to be appointed as full professor of mathematics in Denmark. In 1989 she became the Director General of the Danish ICT Centre for Research and Education, UNI-C, a post she held untill 2011 when she became Executive Advisor at the Mathematics Department of the Technical University of Denmark. She was the President of TERENA, for the maximum term of 6 years from 2003-2009 and has served on several Advisory Committees for the EC, most recently as a member of the Géant Expert Group from 2010-11. In 2012 she was elected Chair of the NREN Policy Committee and the GN3Plus Assembly.
